Skilled Nursing Unit
Forrest Health offers Skilled Nursing Units in each of its hospitals. The Skilled Nursing Unit at Forrest General Hospital is a 30 bed unit on the third floor that provides a sub-acute inpatient short stay for those individuals needing a continuum of care to help facilitate their recovery.
Forrest General's Skilled Nursing Unit features:
- Skilled nursing care (RN’s, LPN’s and CNA’s)
- Restorative nursing care (Restorative CNA’s)
- Skilled Therapies: Physical, Occupational, Speech and Respiratory Therapies
- Therapy gym located on unit
- Individualized activity program with preferred activities of resident (in room or group) led by Activity Coordinator
- Activities include: religious, arts and crafts, games, social events, holiday celebrations, music therapy, etc.
- Hospitality service provided in room to resident twice a day
- Licensed medical social worker
- Case managers
- Registered dietitian
- Pharmacy consultant
- Physician directed person-centered interdisciplinary weekly care team meeting which includes residents and family
- Provides wound care, IV therapy, blood administration, medication administration, respiratory care and daily option for meal selections
- Discharge planning; option for bedside pharmacy at discharge available
- Honors individual resident preferences
- All private rooms with cable television and local telephone service
- Activity/Dining room
- Licensed Long-Term Care Administrator and a Director of Nursing
- Physician in-room visits. Medical Director/Attending Physician available 24/7 and a supportive nurse practitioner
- Quality Assurance, Infection Prevention and Control Programs
