Heart Care and Treatment
When your heart needs care, Forrest Health takes action. Once you have been diagnosed and your condition has been assessed, our cardiologists and Heart and Vascular team decide on a plan based on your needs.
Structural Heart Procedures
Many life-saving structural heart treatments and procedures can be minimally invasive, meaning the doctors use specialized instruments which only require a small incision. Some structural heart procedures include:
- Ablation Techniques
- Balloon Valuloplasty
- Left Atrial Appendage Closure
- Septal Defect and Patent Foramen Ovale Closure
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement
- Transcatheter Mitral Valve Clip Repair
- Transseptal Puncture
Interventional Cardiology
Interventional cardiology is a lower-risk alternative to surgical procedures and uses catheters to repair damaged heart structures and treat blockages. We offer a variety of treatment and procedures, performed in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, including:
- Angiogram
- Angioplasty
- Cardiac catheterization
- Echocardiogram
- EP Ablation
- Stenting
- WATCHMAN
Electrophysiology
Electrophysiology studies analyze the heart's electrical system, which produces the heartbeat. The results are used to diagnose patients with heart rhythm problems, and help physicians determine the most effective course of treatment.
Interventional cardiac electrophysiology is offered at Forrest General, in which doctors not only diagnose and determine a plan of action, but also treat electrical system illnesses on site.
Heart Surgery

Board-certified cardiovascular surgeons consult with your cardiologist to coordinate your care and create a personalized recovery plan. Heart surgeries are preformed in our highly-specialized operating suites, and all patients are monitored after surgery in our telemetry unit. Surgeries include:

- Coronary bypass surgery
