Forrest Health Names DAISY Award Winner for March
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (April 3, 2024) Forrest Health has named Brianna Dixon, RN, who works as House Supervisor, as its DAISY Award winner for March. The DAISY award, which is presented monthly to a deserving nurse or nurses, exemplifies clinical expertise and compassionate care and is recognized as a role model in the nursing community.
“Brianna Dixon is the reason that I continue to keep showing up to work each night with a positive attitude, ready to serve my patients,” said her nominator. “I know that whatever the shift may bring, she will be right by my side, with gloves on, ready to help me. She has run to my assistance for smaller things such as starting IVs all the way to helping me get my declining patient to the ICU in a timely manner, all the while, keeping the entire hospital operating smoothly. Brianna always has an ear ready to listen when my shift is crazy and provides the most positive, encouraging advice, just when it’s needed most.”
“Brianna treats everyone she comes across with the utmost respect and professionalism. She is by far the greatest supervisor I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and a true asset to the Forrest General Healthcare system. She knows how to make things happen when it appears that there is NO solution to a problem. Her main focus and priority is always doing what is best for the patient. From being willing to help me out when I am in a bind to helping nurses who need items from the storeroom, she manages to fulfill her many other duties as a house supervisor. I can only imagine how hard running an entire hospital can be, but Brianna does it with ease. Not only is Brianna a superhero, a nurse who "wears a cape," but she also has NO kryptonite!”
“Thank you Brianna, for your compassion and commitment, for giving your all to make my second home the best it can possibly be, for your countless hours, for truly defining the meaning of ‘above and beyond.’ People will follow a leader with a heart faster than a leader with a title.”
Brianna, who received her degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, has been employed at Forrest General for two years. The Sumrall resident said her mom was a nurse and it was all she was ever really exposed to. “My mom worked at a nursing home, specifically, so I would go and visit the residents on days when I could,” she said. “I would play the piano for them, hang out with them, and I fell in love with it. I almost went in a totally different direction for my career path, and I’m so glad I didn’t. The healthcare field is all I’ve ever known, and I think it’s all I will ever do.”
“A nurse, like Brianna, and others, who have been nominated for and honored with the DAISY Award during the past year, are an integral part of what makes Forrest Health such a caring and compassionate place for your healthcare needs,” said Phyllis Chambers-Berry, Forrest Health vice president. “I am so proud of Brianna and how hard she works to make our Forrest General patients feel appreciated and cared for in such a warm manner.”
