Forrest Health Names DAISY Award Winner for August

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (August 29, 2023) Forrest Health has named Suzanne Wilson, RN, Emergency Room director at Forrest General Hospital, as its DAISY Leadership Award winner for August. The DAISY award, which is presented monthly to a deserving nurse or nurses, exemplifies clinical expertise and compassionate care and is recognized as a role model in the nursing community.

“Suzanne has led the Emergency Department to significant improvement during the past year,” said her nominator. “Her commitment to excellence is evident in her work. She does a fantastic job communicating her expectations and holding the team accountable to meeting them. She is a patient advocate and continuously strives for improvement in patient care and satisfaction. I appreciate Suzanne’s leadership.”

“Her unwavering dedication, exceptional leadership skills, and boundless commitment to her team and organization have truly set her apart. Her ability to inspire, guide, and uplift those around her serves as a shining example of effective leadership. With a heart full of empathy and a mind brimming with innovative ideas, Suzanne has not only steered her team toward success, but has also created an environment where collaboration and growth flourish. This well-deserved recognition is a testament to Suzanne’s remarkable contributions and the positive impact she continues to make. Her embodiment of the qualities that the leadership DAISY Award represents is an inspiration to us all.”

Wilson lives in Poplarville and received her nursing degrees from Pearl River Community College and Chamberlain University. Her decision to seek a career in the healthcare field is due to the fact that “I’m a caretaker by nature and take care of my whole family, and my Emergency Department team,” she said.

“A nurse, like Suzanne, and others, who have been nominated for and honored with the DAISY Award during the past year, are an integral part of what makes Forrest Health such a caring and compassionate place for your healthcare needs,” said Phyllis Chambers-Berry, Forrest Health vice president. “I am so proud of Suzanne and how hard she works to make our Forrest General patients feel appreciated and cared for in such a warm manner.”
