Spirit of Women Teams Up with Southern Miss Athletics for “Batter Up! Baseball Talk for Besties”
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (January 15, 2024) It’s batter up in the Baseburg! Are you ready for some Golden Eagle baseball? Let Forrest Health’s Spirit of Women take you out to the ballpark for its inaugural “Batter Up! Baseball Talk for Besties!”
Scheduled for Tuesday, February 6, at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field on the Southern Miss campus, play begins at 6 p.m. as John Cox, the voice of the Golden Eagles, introduces the starting lineup beginning with the coaching staff and their wives. USM’s Christian Ostrander, affectionately known as Coach Oz, will take attendees on a trip around the bases when it comes to baseball philosophy, rules, and lingo, while also providing a swing or two at the upcoming season for the Golden Eagles.
The evening will also include shopping with Carter’s Collective Fine Jewelry, a couple of raffle drawings, a physician Q&A, baseball drills, and the opportunity to get photos made with Coach Oz and some players. Attendees will enjoy traditional, All-American baseball concessions.
“We enjoy partnering with Southern Miss, so we thought we’d give ‘Batter Up! Baseball Talk for Besties’ a swing in advance of the upcoming baseball season,” said Millie Swan, Forrest Health vice president. “We are always looking for opportunities to involve our Spirit of Women members in the community while educating them about healthy living.”
You’ll definitely want to dig in for this dugout fun. Check-in gets underway at 5 p.m, with the event running from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets, which are required, are $25 for Spirit of Women and Southern Miss Eagle Club members and $35 for non-members. A limited number of tickets is available. Tickets can be purchased at www.forresthealth.org/batterup.
